Martin Feldstein To Speak
At Southwest Corporate’s
32nd Annual Economic Forum
Dallas--Martin Feldstein, one of the nation’s most respected
economists, will be among those providing insight, analysis and forecasting to
credit union leaders at Southwest Corporate Federal Credit Union’s 32nd
Economic Forum.
Feldstein, a Harvard
economics professor and President Emeritus of the National Bureau of Economic
Research, is regarded by some as the architect of economic boom of the Ronald
Reagan era. He served as Reagan’s chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers
and has rarely been off the national stage since then. President Obama tapped
Feldstein earlier this year to serve on his administration’s Economic Recovery Advisory
Board.
Feldstein headlines a
line-up of speakers designed to help credit union leaders understand and
anticipate the financial landscape ahead. In addition to Feldstein, economist
William Ford will also speak at this year’s Economic Forum. Ford is former
president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and served as the Chief
Economist for the American Bankers Association. He is currently an economics
professor at Middle Tennessee State University.
Other speakers include
CUNA’s Chief Economist Bill Hampel, NCUA Board Member Gigi Hyland and credit
union economist Dr. Charles Idol. Additional speakers will be announced in the
coming weeks.
The Economic Forum—with the
theme “Navigating the New Normal”—is scheduled for October 27-28 at
the Westin Galleria Hotel in Dallas. Economic Forum details will be made
available online at www.swcorp.org.
Registration will open in mid-July.
